Overview
TrueTime is designed to work entirely on your device. All calculations — solar time, sunrise, sunset — happen locally using publicly available astronomical formulas (NOAA Solar Algorithm). No data is ever sent to us.
Location Data
TrueTime uses your device's GPS to calculate the sun's position at your precise location. This data:
- Never leaves your device
- Is stored only in your device's local storage
- Is used solely for solar time calculations
- Is never shared with us or any third party
- Can be cleared at any time by removing the app
You may deny location permission. In that case, TrueTime will ask you to manually search for your city.
City Search
When you search for a city by name, TrueTime sends the city name to Photon, an open-source geocoding service by Komoot, to retrieve latitude and longitude coordinates.
- Photon does not require an account
- Photon does not identify individual users
- Once coordinates are retrieved, all subsequent calculations are performed offline on your device
Analytics & Advertising
TrueTime contains:
- No analytics SDKs
- No advertising networks
- No crash reporting services
- No third-party tracking of any kind
We have no visibility into how you use the app.
Home Screen & Lock Screen Widgets
TrueTime widgets display solar time on your home screen and lock screen. Widgets read the same solar boundary data already stored on your device by the app. No additional data collection occurs.
Children's Privacy
TrueTime does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. As the app collects no personal information from anyone, it is safe for all ages.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of any updated policy.
